It was first of all used to restore the face shape or the body muscles which had been deformed due to paralysis or any other disease and in case of body muscles, mostly athletes with muscle injury were restored using the micro current therapy. It was noted that the faces of the people who have hd the treatment were even thinner and lifted than what they had been before the treatment, this led to some thinking and then this treatment was used as cosmetic therapy and is now used more extensively as a cosmetic treatment rather than medical one.
There are different types of micro current machines in the market but the most popular of them is micro current face lift machine. Micro current face lift machine is a small apparatus with a few pads which are used on the face or that part of body which is to be treated, current is passed through that part micro current machine uses two types of currents, micro current and induced current both of which are very small so one does not feel it very much and it exercises the muscles which grows hot and as a result collagen formation is accelerated which makes the skin tight.

Microdermabrasion Treatments Facts

Science is a persistent pursuit of knowledge and betterment of human kind. By its permanent quest, it has opened new and novel horizons of discovery and invention. Science and technology wakes us up in the morning and help us till we fall asleep again. Everything from a tasty breakfast to a nice hot bath at night is due to virtue of science. Science has even found ways for the humans to look different-more beautiful, young, get the appearance you want. Microdermabrasion, laser surgeries, micro current therapies such as Bot-ox and RF treatment, if done all on a single person can change him completely.

Microdermabrasion is basically rather simpler than most of other cosmetic surgeries. It is done by removing( partially or completely) the dead outer skin by abrasion. Its main cosmetic purpose is the extermination of scars, extra hairs, old age effects( to some extent) and dark spots on the skin. If the scars are on the upper skin, then microdermabrasion is extremely useful as compared to other cosmetic treatments as the upper skin itself is removed in microdermabrasion . It is useful for pimples and black heads also but for them to be removed completely the process has to be done several times to create an effect.

Microdermabrasion is normally also considered a scar removal process if the scaring is minimum. If the scars are deep no amount of Microdermabrasion treatments will remove those.

There are different procedures for microdermabrasion, the conventional way is Crystal Microdermabrasion, in this process a jet of crystals of aluminum or zinc oxide are used, it is still widely used but has lost its berth due to the introduction of other procedures.

There is another rather important procedure of microdermabrasion, it is called diamond microdermabrasion and in this process diamond crystals are used along with normal type of crystals but it should still not be considered much better than crystal microdermabrasion. Another cheap and moderately effective process is called Home Microdermabrasion. Its creams are available in the market have almost the same effect as the other ways of abrasion and after this, one can see a visible change in the skin color and brightness, with the removal of some upper skin scars also. Still it is not a very advisable process to be used at the best of time.

THE BENEFITS OF CRYSTAL MICRODERMABRASION

Ever thought you’d be using crystals on your skin to get a lovely glow? Well, that’s what’s spa therapists, skin specialists and plastic surgeons have been using to get that fresh morning dew look! The procedure’s called crystal microdermabrasion and now you can even try it at home.

What happens during microdermabrasion is that tiny crystals are used to lightly abrade the skin's surface, exposing better looking skin. This treatment is also known as power peel, Parisian peel or particle resurfacing. It basically exfoliates the stratum corneum, the skin’s outermost layer. This brings a fresh glowing skin to the surface, removes sun damage and reduces scars and dark spots. That too, after a single sitting of 30-40 minutes!
The good news is not only can you buy the machine used for microdermabrasion and use it at home; you don’t even need an anaesthetic since there is no pain! In case you’re suffering from a skin abnormality or would like to fight aging skin, this treatment’s for you. It’s also an efficient remedy against acne. But it must be repeated periodically for long term results. It can be used on the face, neck, chest, back, feet and hands.
During microdermabrasion the machine shoots micro crystals across the targeted skin patch. This is called the exfoliating process.  The machine then collects the leftover dead skin cells and used crystals and gets rid of them. The outer skin layer is gradually removed without affecting the lower skin layers. This action has a skin polishing effect that helps iron out wrinkles and fine lines. It also helps in lightening chicken pox or wound scars, unclogging pores and improving the skin’s moisture retention ability.
After each sitting and until your next one, you will need to apply specialized lotions and creams to the treated area. You will experience a mild redness of skin for a couple of hours after the procedure. A sitting can be repeated after a gap of ten days. Usually six sittings are good enough to achieve long lasting results. But always steer clear of the area around the eyes, ears and mouth.

In case you’re wondering WHY crystals of all things! The reason behind this is that aluminium oxide crystals are abrasive and they happen to be the second hardest mineral after diamonds. The irregular shapes of crystals make them an ideal exfoliating agent. Plus, if they get ingested by mistake they cause no harm since they are non-toxic and non-carcinogenic. Actually, being an inert material, aluminium oxide has no side effects or allergic reactions.

As if that’s not enough, crystal microdermabrasion is one of the most affordable ways to get great skin! And it’s become ever more so now that you can buy your own home microdermabrasion kit complete with pump and compressor. So, what are you waiting for?! Power peel your way to a more radiant you!

At Home With Microdermabrasion

At home with Microdermabrasion
Tired of dull, saggy skin that makes you feel old? Ever imagined trying the same ‘instant facelift’ Hollywood celebrities get? Well, it’s time to start now that microdermabrasion is available at home! You can pamper yourself the way Kate Moss, Madonna, Uma Thurman, Cindy Crawford, Gwen Stefani and Cameron Diaz do without making a huge dent in your budget!
So what exactly is microdermabrasion? And how does it work for you? For starters, it’s a great alternative to costly and invasive cosmetic procedures like Botox, chemical peels and plastic surgery. It gives your skin a fresh glow by reducing fine lines, acne marks, clogged pores and oily skin. And the best part is it’s painless!
This treatment, also called the lunchtime peel since it takes about 30 minutes, removes dead skin cells through particle resurfacing. You will notice smooth glowing skin instantly after the first session itself. Over time, there will be a marked improvement in fine lines and scars. Microdermabrasion works especially well on acne. In case you’re wondering how come it works on young skin dotted with acne and older skin sketched with wrinkles? It does by simply removing the topmost layer of one’s skin, making it possible to smoothen out wrinkles, scars and other skin imperfections.
What happens is a machine is used to apply tiny rough grains that gradually scrape away the skin’s surface. It can be used on the face, neck, chest, back, feet and hands. This microdermabrasion machine has a compressor and pump that mixes gentle abrasion with suction to remove the skin’s dead cells. This makes the skin regenerate its cells faster leading to a more youthful looking skin.
As you can see the benefits of microdermabrasion are plenty:
Revitalizes dull skin
Gives a more even skin tone
Reduces stretch marks, mild pigmentation, enlarged pores
Erases acne marks, fine lines and wrinkles
Reduces the harmful effects of the sun & pollution
No anaesthesia is used
It works on any skin tone and hardly needs any recovery time
As a matter of fact, unlike other skin procedures, it lets you get back to your routine after one hour. After the first session you will notice a mild swelling and redness. Depending on your skin type, these effects will wear away after an hour or maximum one day.
You may find your skin peeling after this treatment, that’s why you must always use a sun screen and moisturizer after each session. Actually, it’s best to avoid the sun for at least 24 hours. Since the topmost layer of your skin has been exfoliated, the treated area will be a little sensitive on the first day. But as a trade off, the skin’s texture would have improved and advanced skin care products will be more effective now that they can easily penetrate into the deeper layer of the skin. This will stimulate collagen production over time, giving you a distinctly youthful appearance!
For this treatment to be effective in the long run you will need multiple sessions. Six sessions are recommended every 2 weeks for long lasting results. But doing it in the comfort of your house makes it less daunting. No commuting. No appointment making. No waiting rooms. Just you and your dependable machine!  And you won’t be burning a hole in your pocket by paying $75 to $150 for each treatment at a spa or dermatologist’s office!

The History of Microdermabrasion

There are close to 120 different microdermabrasion machines available on the market today. However, because it is still a novel technique, there have been no manufacturing performance standards specified for these machines. The FDA classified the machines as Class 1 devices which can be sold without clinical efficacy evidence, and the machines can be used without medical supervision. This just shows how important it is to choose a professional clinic for your microdermabrasion needs before you go ahead and try it out for yourself at home.

The precursor to microdermabrasion was dermabrasion, and this is a more invasive technique. There are many problems with dermabrasion, firstly it is more painful than microdermabrasion, so it has to be performed with anaesthesia. Second, the recovery period is long, and it takes weeks for the top layers of skin to heal. Third, there is scarring, which is not apparent with microdermabrasion, so scars will eventually develop with continued, repetitive use. Fourthly, infection is a bit of a problem and could lead to dermatitis and septicaemia in the worst of cases. So all in all, it is not a very skin friendly technique.

The whole idea of removing the upper-most layer of skin was conceptualized ages ago, as far as 1500BC in Egypt. They used a type of sandpaper to smooth the skin- and this obviously must have been quite painful and side-effect plentiful. This is not a surprise though, and it isnt a surprise either that the Egyptians were the first to create this beautifying technique.

Currently, microdermabrasion is the norm, and it is one of the top 3 aesthetic procedures performed in the world. The incidence of its use is also increasing each year, both in America and Europe. There was an increase of 24% from 2003 to 2005 in its use in America. Its use will spread to the bigger markets in Asia in due time, and I predict that because of its many benefits and efficacy over other skin-care procedures, will develop to become the most popular procedure among health-care professionals.

Who knows, one day nano-dermabrasion may take over micro-dermabrasion in the human quest for ever-improving beautifying procedures!
